Create a Nutrient-Specific Zone Map in the Taranis Web App
Not all nutrient deficiencies are created equal—and now, they don’t have to be treated that way. With the latest update to the Taranis Web App, you can create individual zone maps for specific nutrient deficiencies like sulfur, nitrogen, or potassium. Instead of generating a blanket nutrient response, this new capability allows you to isolate and target the exact areas of concern for each deficiency across the field. Whether you’re planning a variable rate application or flagging zones for tissue sampling, this feature gives you the flexibility to act with precision and confidence.
- Log in to the Taranis Web App.
- After logging in, the Recent Insights landing page appears.
- To begin creating a nutrient zone map, scroll down and select the color-coded threat box under Nutrients for the relevant field.
- A map view displays nutrient-deficient zones for the field. Detected deficiencies are listed in the information panel.
- When creating a zone map, select which nutrient deficiency to target based on the insights provided.
- Zones can be created for single or multiple deficiencies depending on your management plan.
- Click the three-dot menu in the top right corner of the information panel and select Create Zones from the dropdown.
- When selecting multiple nutrient deficiencies, Taranis automatically generates zones based on the intensity and distribution of each deficiency.
- When selecting a single nutrient deficiency, zones will be created based on intensity, and you’ll receive an email notification once the map is ready.
- In the body of the email, click the Zones tab to be redirected back to the map, where you can review the zones and complete your prescription.
- Once zones are created, select Add Prescription. You can use the zones as they are, or customize them by editing, dividing, or drawing new shapes directly on the map.
- Enter the name of the prescription, the product name(s), and the application unit (ie: gal/acre, L/acre). For single-product use, enter the appropriate application rate for each zone. To apply more than one product, select Apply multiple or different products, then assign the appropriate product and rate to each zone.
- When finished, select Use this Rx for export and then Save your prescription.
- The file can be downloaded as a shapefile for in-cab use and will also be stored within the field for future reference or editing.
Creating individual nutrient zone maps helps you respond to in-season deficiencies with accuracy and intention. Instead of treating every acre the same, you can tailor your management plan to what the field truly needs. With this new capability in the Taranis Web App, you’re equipped to turn nutrient insights into precise action—protecting yield, optimizing input use, and driving stronger outcomes across every pass.
