When viewing an Insight map, red tags indicate where a specific threat such as weeds, disease, insects, or nutrient deficiencies has been detected. The Insight also shows the percentage of the field where these threats are present.
Sometimes, the percentage shown in the Insight can look very different from what appears in the Ag Assistant™ recommendation. This often leads to the question: “If so much of the field is tagged, why is the percentage or what is mentioned in Ag Assistant™ different?”
Ag Assistant™ Logic
Ag Assistant™ is designed to deliver clear, actionable recommendations that focus on the threats most likely to impact yield and return on investment. It does not repeat every tag from an Insight map. Instead, it prioritizes high-impact issues based on agronomic value and severity. By drawing from a curated library of priority threats, Ag Assistant™ filters out lower impact observations and highlights only those that require timely action.
Threats by Crop – Priority Tagging
- Weeds: Palmer amaranth, waterhemp, pigweed species, giant ragweed, marestail, horseweed, morning glory species, velvetleaf, foxtail species, and johnsongrass (corn and soy).
- Disease: Tar spot, rust (southern and common), and NCLB (corn); and Frogeye leaf spot, Cercospora leaf blight, sudden death syndrome (SDS), downey mildew, soybean rust (ASR), and brown spot or leaf spot (soy).
- Insects: Grasshopper, caterpillar, Japanese beetle, and flea beetle (corn and soy).
- Nutrient Deficiencies: Nitrogen, sulfur, iron, magnesium, potassium, and zinc (corn and soy).
Example
This insight shows that 96 percent of the field has disease tags, with four different diseases detected. When applying the priority threats chart, which focuses on issues with the greatest potential to impact the field, Ag Assistant™ highlights Tar Spot and NCLB, but does not include Holcus Leaf Spot or Anthracnose Leaf Blight.
Why This Matters
This approach keeps recommendations clear and easy to act on, avoids overloading advisors and growers with non-actionable information, and directs attention to the threats most likely to impact yield and ROI. The Insight map provides the full picture of what was detected in the field, while Ag Assistant™ filters that information to highlight only the most critical issues for decision-making.
